Nine O One Bar & Grill at 2902 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, has that effortless West Coast charm wrapped in a classic sports bar feel. Nestled just a few blocks from the University of Southern California, this local favorite draws in students, alumni, and LA foodies alike for its all-day comfort eats and spirited atmosphere. The second you walk in, the buzz of conversation, the clinking of glasses, and TVs flashing the latest game scores set the tone—laid-back but lively, never trying too hard.
The menu balances the familiar with thoughtful twists. Sure, you’ll find staples like loaded nachos and burgers, but there’s something about the execution here that elevates it beyond typical bar fare. The grilled chicken sandwich, juicy and piled with avocado, tastes like it came off a backyard grill. Meanwhile, the BBQ ribs fall off the bone—glazed just right without overwhelming sweetness. Even the simple side of fries manages to be crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, worth ordering solo with one of their house dips.
Drinks are no afterthought. With a solid beer selection—both local brews and crowd-pleasers—plus signature cocktails like their spicy margarita with a Tajín rim, the bar keeps things interesting without being pretentious. Happy hour runs most evenings, a big win if you’re catching a game or just winding down after work. The staff knows the regulars by name but never makes newcomers feel like outsiders. That rare blend of familiarity and friendliness keeps people coming back.
If you check the reviews online, especially on platforms like Yelp and Google Maps, you’ll see a consistent thread—comments about the chill vibe, solid food, and great game-day energy. It’s not Michelin-star fine dining, but that’s never the goal. It’s the kind of place where laughter fills the air, and no one judges if you order wings twice.
In terms of location, it’s prime. Steps away from campus, easily accessible by transit, and surrounded by other LA landmarks, Nine O One isn’t just a pit stop—it’s a meeting point. A place to fuel up before a game, hash out finals week stress, or grab brunch with a hangover in tow. The outdoor seating is a plus when LA’s weather plays nice, and inside, booths offer just enough privacy to make it feel intimate without being stuffy.
Whether you’re in it for the vibe, the sports bar energy, or just want a solid burger and beer combo that hits every time, this spot makes good on its promise. No gimmicks. Just comfort, consistency, and a menu that feels like home for anyone who’s ever wanted a casual bite done right.
“ College place for sure, loud high energy college bar. Great drink specials. Hands down the best chicken wings I've ever had and affordable. I love this place ”
K C.“ Great food and customer service. It's just trying to find parking. I was parked across the street in some other parking lot and the waitress was so nice to inform me that I should move my car and park closer to the bar which I did. He made a parking spot for me :-) ”
Amber P.“ Great food and drinks! I used to have an issue where the waitresses charged another table with my card and gave me another person's card back. But now they seem to be better. ”
Chan C.“ Great drinks and food for a great price. Love all the video monitors for watching sporting events. The atmosphere is fun and the service is always awesome. Always up for a 9-O Burger or a Pizza!! ”
Dennis V.“ Started my 2023 homecoming at the 9-0, WOW, talk about a transformation. Long gone are the days of a dark/dank dump that smells like pee and beer (90's era). They could use more servers on game day, but the internal aesthetics are great, plenty of televisions, and lots of tables, with good open lighting. #BRAVO ”
Chris G.“ Sunday funday for some American football in the morning. Came in at 11am and had beers on tap, Pizza with jalapenos, and chicken wings. Pizza was better than it looked but the wings were mid. Plenty of TVs showing all the morning games and lots of cool sports memorabilia on the walls too. Service was great and the waiter kept coming back with water to help me and the boys stay hydrated. Will definitely come back to watch another game here. ”
Bryan A.“ The vibes are absolutely electric. If you aren't ok with being exposed to danger; this place ain't for you. The drinks are always flowing and the burgers are great. This burger tastes like one you get at a work bbq they give you instead of giving you a raise. ”
Thomas H.“ Howler makes the best drinks, and he's great to look at. Love Alberto, always with a smile the best conversations, and then there's Jason, funny, nice, like the big brother bartender that always takes care of you. Actually they're all great to look at. Love this place. The food is great. Especially the Waffle fries with ranch and 911 sauce. Pizza amazing and best of all drink are 2for1 from 3:00pm to 9:01 pm. ”
